Meditation and sleep

As learned in the last element, meditation aims to achieve harmony through integrating the mind, brain and body. Meditation has been reported across the literature to have numerous positive effects.

It has been found that some components of sleep-generating mechanisms, such as melatonin, the parasympathetic nervous system and metabolic functioning, can be altered with meditation to positively influence sleep and its functions.
