When I was first introduced to mindfulness practice, I was in a workshop and immediately drawn to the sense of peace I felt within. I made a commitment to practice short mindfulness, just the six minute one, every day for one week. What really stood out for me when I commenced, was the difference of mindfulness practice with or without expectations. With expectations, my experience was not the same, when I let go of expectations and just allowed the experience to be, I found that sense of peace again. I learned through my experiences of mindfulness practice that it was OK for my thoughts to come and go and to let go of judgement, even when the thoughts were coming more and more, I learned without judgement, they settle. Over time I found that sense of peace within more quickly and my practice became and continues to be my six minute sanctuary.
